  1. Installing Wintertree Thesarurus
  2. ================================

  4. To install Wintertree Thesaurus, you need a PC-compatible computer
  5. and Microsoft Windows, version 3.x.
  6.  
  7. To conserve space, an installation program is not provided
  8. with the "unregistered" version of Wintertree Thesaurus. If a
  9. file called INSTALL.EXE was not provided with the Wintertree
  10. Thesaurus package, follow the "Manual Installation" procedure,
  11. below. If INSTALL.EXE was provided, follow the "Automatic
  12. Installation" procedure, below.

  14. Note that the Wintertree Thesaurus files are not compressed, so
  15. the manual installation procedure can be used if you prefer.

  18. Manual Installation
  19. ===================

  21. 1. Create a directory on your hard disk where the Wintertree
  22.    Thesaurus files will reside (e.g., C:\WINTHES).
  23.  
  24. 2. Copy all of the files in the Wintertree Thesaurus package to
  25.    the directory created in Step 1.
  26.  
  27. 3. Create an icon for Wintertree Thesaurus in a Program Manager
  28.    group. There are a number of ways to do this; use your
  29.    favorite method, or the method below:
  30.  
  31.    a) Select the Program Manager group in which you'd like
  32.       Wintertree Thesaurus's icon to appear.
  33.  
  34.    b) Select the New item from Program Manager's File menu.
  35.  
  36.    c) Select Program Item in the New Program Object dialog, then
  37.       select the OK button.
  38.  
  39.    d) Select the Browse button in the Program Item Properties
  40.       dialog, then use the Browse dialog to locate WINTHES.EXE
  41.       in the directory you created in Step 1. Select the OK
  42.       button once you have selected WINTHES.EXE.

  44.    e) Select the OK button in the Program Item Properties dialog.

  46. You can skip Step 3 if you normally run programs from the File
  47. Manager.

  50. Automatic Installation
  51. ======================

  53. By default, the installation program will copy the Wintertree
  54. Thesaurus files to directory C:\WINTHES. You can have the
  55. installation program copy them to a different directory if
  56. you wish. Also, the installation program will create an icon
  57. for Wintertree Thesaurus in the "Wintertree Thesaurus" Program Manager
  58. group.

  60. To install Wintertree Thesaurus:

  62. 1. Insert the Wintertree Thesaurus distribution diskette in drive
  63.    A: (or B:).
  64. 2. Select the Windows Program Manager File | Run menu item.
  65. 3. Enter A:INSTALL (or B:INSTALL) in the command line field.
  66. 4. Follow the instructions displayed by the installation
